OTHER PROCEDURES

Premier Gastroenterology also performs a number of additional procedures including:

Capsule Endoscopy

Capsule Endoscopy is the visual examination of the small bowel by swallowing a tiny camera pill that takes pictures and transmits them to a recorder. The images are then reviewed by the physician.

Small Bowel Enteroscopy

A small bowel enteroscopy allows a physician to navigate the entire small bowel from either an oral or rectal approach, enabling them to perform both diagnostic and therapeutic techniques within the small bowel without the need of an open surgical procedure.

Placement of Luminal Stents

Luminal stenting is a procedure in which devices, called stents, are surgically placed within the gastrointestinal (GI) tracts of patients to expand the lumen (inner space) and correct serious obstructions. Obstructions may be masses within the intestines or other external tissues.

Anorectal Manometry

Anorectal manometry is a technique used to measure contractility in the anus and rectum. This technique uses a balloon in the rectum to distend the rectum and a pressure sensor at the internal anal sphincter to measure the presence or absence of the rectosphincteric reflex.
